FACE MAKEUP QUESTION! MAC, Shiseido, or Laura Mercier?

I'm looking for a brand to commit to for my moisturizer, primer, foundation, concealer, and powders..


I'm 16


I have combination/oily skin


Asian skin tone


Mild acne


Light scars to cover





I don't want anything cakey and it has to last atleast 6 hours!





So what are your opinions on MAC, Shiseido, and Laura Mercier :]

I dont think MAC has the Highest quality face make up so i would stay away from MAC for your face. And i think that Shisedo and Laura Mercier are fine, but WAYYY pricey. Your best bet i think would be Clinique. Or Laura Mercier out of those 3. You could always go to the mall 4 days and everytime ask them to do your makeup at a different counter and wear it for the rest of the day to try it out.
mac is great!





but also, if you have acne, they have special foundations from neutrogena that have acne killing medication in them and its also a cery good long lasting foundation!

Moisturizer - I recommend Clinique moisture surge gel. It's a gel so it won't turn oily after a while, it not too thick, and it stays moisturized all day. but I'm not sure if it has an SPF. If it does, it will probably be quite low, so you should always always use an SPf of 30 or more on the face to prevent wrinkles and sunspots in the future. Peter Thomas Roth Uber-dry sunscreen SPF 30 is excellent, doesn't clog pores, ultralight weight and doesn't tun into eyes.





Primer - Laura Mercier oil-free primer makes a fantastic base for foundation. I've been using it for some time, and it creates a flawless hold on my makeup, even here in sticky summer manhattan. It is colourless so you get that perfect natural, day-time look. I've used the Shiseido too, but I prefer the Laura mercier.





Foundation - Liquid, Powder, Or creamy compact?





~ powder - MAC's Studio Fix powder compact is alright if you're in a hurry. Just dust all over the face (carefully letting moisturizer soak in and skipping the primer step, so the powder doesn't cake.) It is quick and easy, but MAC colours are difficult to match to skin. A common complaint with MAC products is that they leave the skin looking to orangey. So its alright if your in a fix, but careful when applying around the nose and lips, where it cakes easily.





~ liquid - Laura Mercier's oil-free foundation is good, and, I find, blends easily into the skin. But my favorite foundation is made by Chanel. Teint Innocence is, in my view, the best thing to happen to make up since YSL's Touche Eclat. But this is a very sheer foundation, so Chanel make other slightly heavier foundations still leaving that gorgeous Iridescent glow.





~ creamy Compacts - Basically, Chanel's are the best. That's all I can say about them.





Concealer - Use the touche Eclat under the eyes. Nothing beats it. This concealer is Excellent. Go a shade lighter than your natural skin tone to really make your eyes sparkle. An industry trick is to conceal the eyes first (making sure you have a good eye cream on first so that it blends and does not cake) then prime and apply foundation, blending the concealer down into the cheeks as you go. Add eyeshadow, liner, and lastly mascara. Wipe the under-eye area to get rid if the flakes of mascara and shadow and apply the concealer again. Eyes look incredibly bright, and the extra, light layer of concealer ensures that your eyes look bright even after you've added dark shadow. Put dabs around your nose and blend outwards and your complexion is flawless. It covers minor blemishes too, but if you're looking for something heavier to cover a problem area, Bobbi Brown make a blemish stick with clay that helps actually clear the spot up while concealing it in a heavy duty formula. It can be difficult to blend (use with a tiny eyeliner brush just to dab away the redness and it works fine)





Powder - Loose powder from Chanel comes in all skin tones, stays on, and covers evenly. i've tried everything and this is the best.





P.S. I've used every product MAC has made and have not really been satisfied with any of them. I can't say that they are bad for your skin, but they are certainly not easy to work. The tones they make have never suited anyone i've applied them to. But this is just my opinion ;)





P.S You're 16 and miles ahead of the rest of your class, way to go using great products like Laura Mercier. Just remember to blend and keep it light. ALWAYS check your makeup in a hand mirror by a window (trust me I can't tell you the number of teenage girls i see come into our store looking like they put the whole pot of foundation on) And don't wear too much eyeliner.
